Test Conditions:
1. Temperature:
- Natural Ambient = 27 ± 1º C.
- High Ambient = 45 ± 1º C.
2. Pressure: Atmospheric pressure should be = 1 bar.
3. Humidity: It should be less than 70%.
Preparation:
1- Fit (Weld) one hollow tube with Exhaust Elbow, as shown in figure, for connecting Mercury Manometer.
2- Insert Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor on Exhaust Elbow by drilling one hole on it..
3- Fit Mercury Manometer tube to the pipe in Silencer Elbow for measuring Exhaust Back Pressure.
4- Arrange for Smoke meter and Smoke paper for measuring Bosch Value.
Test Procedure:
1- Assemble the Silencer on Engine.
2- Connect Engine / Tractor with Dynamometer.
3- Fix the throttle lever at maximum position (Full Throttle).
4- Maintain the Engine speed at Rated rpm by loading with Dynamometer. Measure Exhaust Gas temperature, Bosch Value and Back Pressure, i.e. the difference of Mercury columns in Manometer (as shown in figure).
5- Repeat step 2 for 1800, 1600, 1400 & 1100 rpm of engine by loading it with Dynamometer.
6- Note down all the measured values.
Conclusion:
1- Bosch Value should be less than 3.0, in overall Full Throttle performance of the Engine.
2- Back Pressure should be as less as possible. If it is less than 30 mm of Hg column, Silencer to be considered in Good category.
3- Noise Level should not exceed 85 db (decibel).
